Support for WiMax, Advertising, Advanced Content Management and Settlement Among Key Features of OpenVideo 4.0™ Release

CTIA WIRELESS and I.T. Entertainment 2007, Booth 433-AA, San Francisco, CA - October 23, 2007

QuickPlay Media, the leader in mobile TV and video solutions, today announced it will preview Version 4.0 of its OpenVideo platform at this week’s CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment 2007 show. OpenVideo 4.0 introduces a variety of new features that eliminate many of the roadblocks associated with managing and delivering a superior mobile TV and video offering.

As mobile TV and video services grow in popularity, mobile operators face increasing challenges in the areas of managing and delivering large volumes of diverse content, satisfying the escalating demands of customers and managing intricate mediation and settlement issues with partners. Given the early stage of the market for these services, operators must also contend with the challenge of selecting a mobile TV and video solution that meets current needs and that will accommodate future requirements and business models. With the introduction of OpenVideo 4.0, QuickPlay addresses all of those challenges and more with a fast-to-market solution that has been designed to ensure that their customers are always at the forefront of the mobile TV and video market.

“In the wireless world, differentiation is king and carriers that are able to tap into the potential of mobile TV and video will be in a prime position to attract new customers and valuable revenue streams,” said Wayne Purboo, CEO and co-founder, QuickPlay Media. “Built on our experiences with customer deployments from around the globe, we have designed OpenVideo 4.0 to simplify the complexities associated with content management and revenue recognition. Through our managed service and open architecture we deliver mobile operators maximum flexibility to add new features and to scale them as market demands change, all while minimizing the resources required to do so.”

Key new features and enhancements delivered in OpenVideo 4.0 include:

  • Intelligent content management: industrial-strength content management capability enables effective and efficient loading and delivery of significant volumes and types of high-quality content. Flexible encoding and transcoding options enable content to be ingested and delivered in real time or pre-encoded dependent on content type and market demands
  • Advanced reporting & analytics: automated reporting ensures fast and accurate mediation, reconciliation and payment with all partners, from content providers to search engines and ad servers, thereby significantly reducing the resource time required to manage mediation and settlement related activities
  • Specialty modules for advertising, social media and location-based services: add-on modules make it simple for mobile operators to support ad models, add video and audio to social networking services and take advantage of location-based services
  • Advanced network support: includes support for WiMax and other advanced networks with optimized video delivery for WiMAX enabled consumer electronics devices
  • Self administration console: enables mobile operators and partners to access a secure administration tool through which they can manage content in real time

OpenVideo 4.0 continues to support a wide range of content types including short clips, long-form TV episodes, movies and broadcast TV as well as advertising and social media. Currently OpenVideo’s managed service delivery platform powers mobile TV and video services for 11 major mobile operators in U.S. and Canada, providing both live and on demand content from more than 130 different media companies such as MTV and ESPN. OpenVideo will be available in Q1 2008.
