MTS Allstream partners with QuickPlay Media Inc. to launch Video Download Service
WINNIPEG, MB and TORONTO, ON - June 08, 2006
MTS Mobility wireless customers can catch up on the latest sports highlights, music videos, news and weather on their wireless phone now with the new Video Download Service.
“Wireless phones today provide so much more than just phone calls,” said Kelvin Shepherd, President Consumer Markets, MTS Allstream Inc. “Entertainment and information that used to require a newspaper or a high speed internet connection is just one button away. With the Video Download Service users can download and view a wide variety of great content right in the palm of their hand on the latest generation of wireless phones, available now from MTS Mobility.”
MTS Allstream’s Video Download Service is provided in partnership with QuickPlay Media Inc., Canada’s leading interactive mobile media company. QuickPlay distributes new content to users on a daily basis. The wealth and variety of video available to suit all ages, personalities and interests grows each day.
“Canadians are clearly enthusiastic about mobile video – in March of this year, Canadian video downloads reached a record high, with more than 5,136 hours of content moving straight to mobile devices,” explains Raja Khanna, QuickPlay Media Inc.’s chief creative officer and co-founder. “We started providing this service to Canadians in November 2004 and will be exceeding two million downloads by month’s end. The Video Download Service will be available to MTS Mobility subscribers with video capable handsets which include: Motorola 815 and Motorola Razr V3. These phones, together with outstanding wireless plans, are available at MTS Connect Stores and MTS dealers across Manitoba.
