Latest Version of Company’s OpenVideo Platform Includes Enhanced Integrations with Leading DRM Vendors
Toronto, ON — April 19, 2012
QuickPlay Media, Inc., the leading provider of managed solutions for the distribution of premium video to IP-connected devices, today announced a number of new content security enhancements to its OpenVideo platform. New content security features include: additional integrations with AuthenTec to support PlayReady for Live TV services; and full certification by Google Widevine for Live TV and VOD. The expanded DRM capabilities are part of a number of new features for OpenVideo that will be announced in coming weeks.
As consumer demand for multiscreen video continues to grow, TV and mobile service providers are aggressively working to expand multiscreen video services, while trying to manage increased security requirements from content providers. QuickPlay’s OpenVideo platform enables service providers to protect content across all of the major stages of digital video asset transition: collection, ingestion, transcoding, distribution and delivery. With the latest version of OpenVideo, service providers can now easily and cost effectively implement industry standard and widely adopted DRM capabilities for their premium multiscreen video services.
Additional security features offered with QuickPlay’s OpenVideo Platform now include:
- Expanded Integration with AuthenTec: QuickPlay uses AuthenTec’s DRM Fusion™ Server to integrate its OpenVideo™ platform with Microsoft PlayReady.® This enables customers to address the unique licensing, protection and monetization requirements of any streaming/download VOD or Live TV multiscreen service.
- Integration with Google Widevine: As a certified Google Widevine implementation partner, QuickPlay enables customers to implement DRM capabilities for Live TV and VOD to securely distribute and protect video content on more than 440 million IP-connected devices.
“eMarketer recently reported that the number of people viewing video content from mobile devices in the U.S. will reach 54.6 million in 2012,” said Wayne Purboo, QuickPlay Founder and CEO. “As demand for multiscreen services continues to grow, TV service providers are faced with the complicated and costly challenge of trying to scale their services, while maintaining quality of service and meeting the stringent security demands of content providers. By integrating our OpenVideo Platform with AuthenTec and Widevine, we enable service providers to speed their time to market with an easy integration path to some of the industry’s most respected DRM solutions.”
QuickPlay’s customers include leading companies such as AT&T U-verse, Verizon, Rogers and Samsung. The OpenVideo Platform currently manages more than 1.5 million content assets across more than three thousand content providers.
