OpenVideo Media Processor

The OpenVideo Media Processor controls all of the major stages of content transformation from ingestion to media delivery.

Ingestion

The highly scalable OpenVideo platform ingests content from over 1,000 content providers for a full range of multimedia offerings including:

  • Live TV
  • Episodic Video
  • Movies
  • Radio
  • Podcasts

Over 25,000 assets per week are ingested through FTP, RSS feeds, Signiant, XML and other easy-to-use interfaces. To ensure ease of discovery once published, metadata is thoroughly cleansed for completeness and accuracy.

Transcoding

The transcoding engine generates separate encoding for download, streaming and live TV for all classes of devices and networks. All encoding is tailored to each device’s specifications – including bit rate, screen size and resolution – to ensure an optimum experience. The transcoding engine also provides streaming variants for adaptive streaming implementations.

Encryption

The encryption process enforces copyright protection for downloaded video and audio files where applicable. Appropriate content security is applied to the delivered video guaranteeing protection for content providers. OpenVideo further safeguards the content by securely storing the keys used in the encryption process.

Media Delivery

The media delivery system supports the secure and rapid distribution of content by publishing it to both leading content delivery networks and to OpenVideo’s content management system. OpenVideo’s media delivery system also facilitates blackout management during live broadcasts (where required).
