Mobile Developers (Blackberry, Java, Android, Brew, iPhone, Windows, Web 0S)

Job Summary

Located at our Head Office in Toronto, this position reports to the Director, Professional Services and is responsible for development and testing of mobile applications.

Qualifications

Education

  • BS in Engineering or Science or equivalent experience in computer science field.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering
  • 2+ years of development working with mobile devices
  • 2+ years of experience architecting software for Mobile Devices
  • Expert in either J2Me, Windows Mobile 6.1 and/or 6.5, Brew or Blackberry development
  • Additionally experience with either Android SDK, iPhone SDK, or Palm SDK would be a bonus
  • Experience using development IDEs, Netbeans, Visual Studio
  • Clear understanding of difference between desktop and mobile development
  • Experience in WebServices, SOAP, XML
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Any experience on Wireless Connectivity technologies would be a plus.
  • Experience with various device manufactures products – Blackberry, Samsung, Nokia, LG, Motorola, HTC, iPhone, Sony Ericsson, Palm
  • Well organized with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Extensive experience in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision as well as with diverse groups of employees at all levels in an organization  

Key Responsibilities

  • Participating in Mobile platform development and porting
  • Participating in requirements and project scope discussions.
  • Participating in technical specifications development.
  • Developing source code to comply with our client's policy.
  • Providing unit testing for own code.
  • Calculating necessary product source code metrics and report weekly activity.
  • Providing post-release support for product.
  • Participating in 3rd level of customer escalation and hotfix activities.

Java EE/ Web UI Developer

Job Summary

QuickPlay Media is seeking a Java developer to create and maintain Web based applications for internal and external administration of our media platforms. The successful applicant will write web applications using modern technologies such as state-full component web frameworks (ie, Java Server Faces or Wicket), Seam, JPA, EJBs and other Java EE facets.

Qualifications

Education

  • BS in Software Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience in computer science field

Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years experience in Java and a good knowledge of the Java SDK APIs
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Experience creating Web applications in any language, preferably Java.
  • Experience with IDEs such as NetBeans or Eclipse
  • Proficient in SQL and knowledgable of relational database management systems
  • Knowledge of XML
  • Some basic Linux skills

Assets

  • Experience with any version control systems such as CVS, Subversion, or StarTeam
  • Experience with Object relational mappers: Java Persistence Architecture or Hibernate
  • Experience with Web or application containers, specifically Weblogic
  • Experience using build systems such as Apache Ant, or Maven 2
  • Knowledgeable of Java Server Faces
  • Knowledge of the concepts in the Seam Framework or Contexts & Dependency Injection (Weld, or CanDI)
